I understand that the goal here is to add some replay value to maps. And monster roaming is not the only solution, and not even the easiest to achieve. There's another simple but powerful way to give new life to old maps: randomness. There's an issue with saved games unless you do it correctly... R...

My 0.02$ (put your currency here) I understand that the goal here is to add some replay value to maps. And monster roaming is not the only solution, and not even the easiest to achieve. There's another simple but powerful way to give new life to old maps: randomness. Some time ago I wrote some QC co...

What about a "permanent" QExpo ? Like, a site where you can have a permanent booth and, from time to time (every six months or once a year) we could pick up (or even vote for) the best projects for a more traditional event ?

I am afraid there is not enough projects in the Quake scene to keep an anual QExpo rolling, even if we bring Q2 and Q3 to the boat. Unfortunately.

That said, I don't see any problem having an special event this year.

Re: Appropriate AI

What do you feel is appropriate ai for monsters, as opposed to bots? What delineations do you think should occur between monsters and how isolated should their ai structures be? Obviously a rotfish isnt as smart as a scrag, but how would you do this? I recall back in 1998, playing Half Life for the...

Puzzles may include a room with a crack in the roof that allows sunshine in a particular pattern on the floor, you must use the translocator to cross the bright portion, and later you may return and are required to follow the light on the floor to retain the white ammo you just collected. It sounds...

I'm starting to doubt if I should continue QuAdEd at all, it's really shoddily put together (I've been thinking about how much easier some of it would've been had I used C++, it's actually kinda object oriented already, in a weird sort of way, but it would really benefit from some added uniformity)...

Just a thought... for the sake of an early version being released sooner rather than later, one could take this approach while we don't have .wad's available: just compile the GPL'd Quake maps without the .wad (or with whatever bits of wads that are available) and use external textures from a retex...

Re: Quake Machinima question(s)

Hi there! I have two questions about machinima: one is in Quake 1 and the other is in Quake 2 In Quake 1, there are two mods I really like this Star Trek one and Quake Matrix . What I'd really like to do is take the Agent Smith skin out of Quake Matrix and be able to run around as Agent Smith insid...

Todd Hollenshead already shut one Quake/2/3-to-Half-Life 2 mod Well whoever was doing the mod must have been refusing to release either the vmfs or whatever program they were using to do the conversion. As long as everything I use to do the conversion is released under the GPL, they can't C&D u...

Unfortunately, I simply don't have the time to take a role in a project. But I can "donate" some experiments for now defunct mods I started and never finished (basically NPC support and somewhat improved AI, besides a bunch of "new" monsters - if deformated grunt models holding w...

This is where the project stands. There's a 3D modeller, a level designer, an engine programmer, only thing I need now is a QC coder. I'm determined that I can make this project work, but that's only going to be true if I get support of other people. I'm not a game making Swiss Army Knife, I need t...
