I wonder how many years will pass before this will be considered as a standard technique. I don't say for games, but at least for 3d rendering applications. Since many companies has launched their version of "realtime rendering" (Blender with Eevee, Octane with Brigade, etc.)which essentually rely on bi-directional path tracing, a realtime raytracing solution would (probably) overhaul the other technologies
