Re: Untitled RPG Project
Once started Blender, probably it will use right mouse to select and left and right mouse to place cursor (which it's weird, but it's a common use from the past..ugh). To change it,
1) Ctrl +N an then OK for creating new fresh scene (just in case)
2) follow these screenshot I make
3) Press Save user settings on the bottom in second image to make changes permanent at reboot of Blender

Re: Untitled RPG Project
Also this seem to be a decent Blender 2.6+ compatible MDL import/export addon, but it says "IdTech2 format"..dunno
Never tested and I won't do it. MDLs.. vertex animations...gahh.. they could be contagious!
If you want animations I suggest using .IQM or probably exporting to collada (.dae, default export format) with animations and then convert in Noesis to .whateverformatyouwant
It seems that Blender and Collada doesn't share same coords system, you'll have to do some trial and error

Re: Untitled RPG Project
I like the 2nd but why not add an ingame option menu like prydon does and let the player choose which they like?Error wrote:So, I need a little input on what I should do with the control scheme here.
I originally planned on having a keyboard only control scheme, then I added a mouse driven inventory system that is causing a problem. I don't like having to take my hands off of the keyboard for anything. It's an inconvenience.
So, here is how it currently is:
https://youtu.be/yix89oN8dSo
WASD - Movement
Arrow keys for attacks and abilities.
Mouse driven inventory (which I can change to a keyboard driven menu)
The character faces the way you move. I like this. Reminds me of old Zelda games.
Here is an alternative:

WASD - Movement
Mouse for attacking and abilities.
Mouse driven inventory.
The character faces the way the mouse aims. I don't like this as the animation looks wonky.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Player model is nice! Also that blue portal-like in the top right. Is that a portal? I like the style of baloons a lot! I don't remember if I already asked: what's the scope of the game?

Re: Untitled RPG Project
Thanks, the player model, though simple, is a favorite of mine. Yes, that's the starting portal for the game. New characters spawn there. Green portals are for instant travel to a town, and red portals are for encounters. The scope? Like, the size? As big as Darkplaces will let me make it. Once I start hitting limitations, it's time to scale back and figure out what it really needs to keep it fresh.

Re: Untitled RPG Project
No, probably I translated from italian! I meant what's the main goal of the game? I jump in the world and then, what I do? Is it multiplayer, kill other players?

Error: I noticed the celshading in the last pic, looks nice. How is it affecting the fps ? I remember having a lot of frame dropping just depending the direction i was looking at in my tests...
I know FrikaC made a cgi-bin version of the quakec interpreter once and wrote part of his website in QuakeC (LordHavoc)
Re: Untitled RPG Project
frag.machine: no real performance hit yep. I capped my fps to 60 for recording purposes... it helped. It also helps that everything is very minimalistic.
toneddu2000: go on quests, defeat bosses, hopefully a pvp ranking system eventually. Maybe even little minigames to complete.

Re: Untitled RPG Project
hmm..for skeleton I'd go for skeleton body.. "potato body" doesn't fit well on that kind of figure imo

This is as much detail as I want to put into this monster:
That guy has twice as many polygons as the main character model...
