The Dark Mod

The Dark Mod is a total conversion mod which changes Doom 3 into a game very much like Thief 1 and 2.
(Classic FPS view stealth games where you steal valuables, find hidden treasures, and avoid guard/monsters/undead.)

We have recently made a push to go standalone since Doom 3 went GPL at the end of last year.
The task of replacing Doom 3 textures, sounds, and models (etc) is well on it's way but it would help to have more contributors. Every year we promote the mod at Moddb with the hope that more visibility will bring in more assistance. For the 4th year in a row we have hit Moddb's Top 100 list for Mod of the Year.

Hello nbohr1more,

I followed your teamĀ“s mod for some time already.
Thank you for posting here as well.

It seems to be the new trend in the FPS area.
Sock recently is also working on a "Thief"-like mod for Quake 1:

The ambience and flair in these kind of mods is of course uncomparable good and moody :)
Refreshing different to the fast-paced original game style !

Thank you for creating these kind of mods and giving us so much fun to play.

Best wishes,
Seven

PS: Some screenshots I like the most. Incredible work:

I never got it to run on Linux so I am really eager to play the standalone some day.

Thanks!

I'll post updates here from time to time.

The latest update being the start of the "Unusual Gameplay Contest" today.

Since the theme means that non-traditional or non-stealth missions can be included, perhaps folks who
aren't into stealth can join the fun too.

Quake mappers who know GTK Radiant should be fairly at ease using Dark Radiant so maybe a few mappers
from here might wanna join the competition too, eh?
