Choice of LCD or plasma monitor ?
Choice of LCD or plasma monitor ?
Just wondering what you guys prefer for using as a monitor, specifically when coding , modeling or mapping etc? I recently went to a plasma 32 inch from an (ccfl) LCD 30 inch, and I notice for programming QC my eyes tire alot faster than with the LCD. The plasma is definately less definitive pixel wise when up close, than the LCD. There are these NEW LED backlit LCD monitors too, but have not had a chance to check any out. The ccfl LCD means its backlit by fluorescent lamps as opposed to the LED backlit, which is suppose to save more power and have a longer mtbf. (meantime between fail)
Re: Choice of LCD or plasma monitor ?
plasma monitors work on the same principle as crt screens (50 hz screen updates if its from US if i remember correctly) so no wonder your eyes get tired
stick with a good LCD.
Productivity is a state of mind.

I use 3 22" led monitors which I love. I wouldn't change for anything right now.

LED > LCD > PLASMA.
I have a 22" and a 19" LCD both ViewSonic and they work great. Although the refresh is only 75hz, compared to my 19" 120hz CRT, it still gets the job done!

At work I have a iMac with 27' Led and it's AMAZING. Working with this bad boy is restful (I switch off brightness a little though).
At home I have a Samsung 24' Led and it's very good (of couse 27 is better!

I had someone looking for the power supply to this monitor a while back. I think its a
Panoram Technologies PV230dsk monitor.
