Try running it with -gate 1. This should speed up the process considerably without any visible differences in the result. That is, if the long processing time is not caused by some hw/sw issue in your case.

Highly unlikely; I built it and did most of the testing on Windows 7.

Sounds as though it may have gotten stuck in an infinite loop (or threads are deadlocked) but I can't really begin to guess where or how. If you're agreeable to, could you maybe PM me a link to a copy of the BSP and I'll run it under a debugger and see can I find out what's going on.
