Concussion Lancer
I've reached the last of the normal weapons to impliment in TROH.
The Concussion Lancer.
However, I've got a case of creativity block.
So, I decided to ask if anybody wants to help design what this thing is gonna look like?
Here's what it does:
Primary: Fires a short range low frequency sound pulse / airburst that pushes projectiles and foes away from the player. Your basic airfist.
Secondary: Fires a Lance Missile. When it hits something, it sticks for a few seconds while repeatedly pushing whatever it hit back. Then it blows up. Basically, an extra fancy "Sprocket".
Trifire: Stabs forward, leaving a Lance missile stuck in whatever it stabbed, rapidly followed up by a Primary airfist. Lance missile doesn't operate like it does in the secondary, but it does have a bigger boom. Great for "rocket" jump style escapes, as not only do you not take any damage, you leave a suprise for whoever was chasing you.
Hopefully that's enough for whoever wants to help design the look of this weapon to get an idea of what it should look like.

The primary Concussion / Airfist attack is powered by a self-recharging energy cell.SkinnedAlive wrote:Could you be a bit more specific? How is it powered, how big it should be, what kind of ammo needs to fit in it. That kind of thing.
The secondary and first half of the trifire require rockets as ammo, even though the actual missile it fires is more of a short spear / Javelin / crossbow bolt in size and dimensions. A good general guideline is that it feeds from a "rocket pack" that shouldn't look too far off from what the Unreal Tournament (Original UT, not 2k3 or 2k4, or championship) Rocket Launcher does.
Sizewise, I'm thinking about the length of the standard Quake1 Rocket Launcher. (Obviously it can be a bit bulkier to accomidate the energy cell, and reloading / magazine mechanizium) I'm thinking some of it should kind of attach to the player's forearm via straps or something. It shouldn't extend out from the player's hand much more than the distance between the front foregrip and the end of the barrel of the Q1 RL.
Hope that wasn't too confusing, and helps better describe the weapon.

I'd help but I'm horrid at art and visual elements. My website attests to this.
You might describe the weapon in a gaming concept artist forum and tell them you'd like a little help visualizing what it would look like given those features. A sketch or something might help, but also ask for input in other means (i.e. they type "I think it would look bulky, probably with most of its weight in the back..." etc). Maybe someone will take interest?

When my computer inevitably explodes and kills me, my cat inherits everything I own. He may be the only one capable of continuing my work.

I showed it to an art instructor who was teaching my PHP class, and he listed all kinds of things that needed changing. He was nice about it, but I realized just how much I don't know about design. I am *so* a coder.
