Where did your nicknames came from?

Post by Orion »

Tell your stories here. :)

Of course my nick came from Orion's constellation, but currently it's just a forum nick, in Quake I got kinda sick of that name. I actually use Rick that's the abbreviation of my name, but I think I'll change it again.

Well, my name is Chip. It's the first part of my name, and sounds good in English. The full version is Ciprian. 8)

My nick here comes from a manga postcard that was hanging in my father's room in their old house... it stuck in my mind since I used to stay there often. :-(

I haven't actually watched the TV series.

It's kinda stupid. I use better nicks elsewhere :-P

I was probably thinking of "Xavier" from X-Men but spelled it as "xavior" instead while playing Worms online. avirox is an anagram thereof

Scarecrow was taken on DALnet back in early 1996. I was too lazy to capitalize the s, and soon realized it looked a lot better without that.

Scarecrows in general are cool to me, as seen in various bits of culture, such as the children's book Goosebumps - The Scarecrow Stalks at Midnight, but also the pseudonym of a member of then horror oriented rap group Triple 6 Mafia, who had early work that actually kind of worked as a soundtrack for Quake playing.

Not for, the existing music of that time in their career went well with, as it had a very dark aesthetic.

I came up with Wazat back when I was in my early teens, a fuzzy time period in my memory even on a good day. For whatever reason, Wazat stuck. I tried changing to static_void, static, wot, Cap'n Bellows, and some other names, but people seemed to prefer Wazat (even though no one seems to pronounce it correctly ;) ), so I went back. I'm used to it now.

How I came up with the name and why is a mystery to me. The best I can come up with is maybe it's an amalgam of the words "What's that?", but I have no idea.

I don't have to know that one, hopefully ;-)

I'm over 30, I'm excused.

I use to like goblin decks in Magic, so I think that's the reason. But I can't stick with a nickname for long, so I'm known by lots of different names through the web.

Hmm. Since my name is Sami, and I'm from the UK and hate the name Sami.

I decided to change it to Sam, with a UK.

Not really complicated, but it does it's job. It's the only nick that I've ever stuck with.
