Can the net_vcr.c -record and -playback features be used for interesting purposes for network code testing in modern times?

I have considered removing net_vcr.c from Engine X (which has a release coming in a week or 2 that I believe some will find very interesting) ... but I'm a bit indecisive considering I plan within the next 6 weeks on doing network code revisions [64 player support comes to mind to support a NetQuake megahub, but that's just one thing.]

Thoughts?

[I've not used the -playback or -record features even once.]
