What Rich said.

Except GTKradiant 1.4 is the best version. It takes less presses than was horribly added to the 1.5 workflow.

There really is basically NOTHING that hlbsp does that q3bsp can't... is there? The HL mdl format is rubbish and old, go for IQM.

Radiosity is SO much better for creating realistic lighting. Of course it breaks with any map that hasn't had lighting done to take into account the bounces. Just have it off by default, definitely worth having in there though. :)

*dusts off ancient thread* http://www.bendarling.net/q1ranger/renders/q1ranger_final02.jpg Here's a quick "update" (I setup a dx9 shader and took realtime viewport pics, not a render this time around) I wasn't going to finish this, because my life is so hectic I don't have the time to just...

What kind of vehicle behaviours are you looking for? What do you need the vehicles to do? Is this just a better looking Quake Rally or something?

Also, wtf is going on with the attitude around here. Stop it now. This is all about sharing knowledge and helping people out. Not hostility.

Huh? I thought it was meant to be Open Source, not Open Letter.

I really don't understand what you're trying to do here besides possibly create a stir?

It really depends on the context. For multiplayer where you're meant to be playing against humans (eg. bots), then obviously making them as human-like as possible is the goal. For single player games with specific enemies, it's all about "good" ai, where the definition of good, is defined ...

Needs smoother lighting across the angles. Some compilers have options to adjust the angle threshold.

Only has the normalmap on the low poly atm... haven't done ambient occlusion or texturing yet. Figured ...

Thanks!
... and yeah, no meshsmoothing (the bottom pic is the exact same as the top pic, just showing the wireframe).
It's next-gen, and for first person view. Besides, with next-gen it's not really polys that make the difference, it's vertices and texels.

I could make 1 triangle make your gpu cry :P
