Re: Bloom Post-Processing for Windows

Screw that. I want HDR. I want to be able to move my window then not be able to read it for a few seconds while it's being realistic in my face and all.

GL_Bind has an internal cache. if you use glBindTexture directly other than through GL_Bind, you break that internal cache, and everything goes kaboom, or at least doesn't switch textures properly as you would expect it to.

This is definitely a binding issue. I'll look through the freetype ...

you're using GL_Bind throughout, and not glBindTexture (even for texture creation)?

Funny that you say that. I've tried using glBindTexture and GL_Bind.
When I use GL_Bind rather than glBindTexture I get this instead of the above. Hmmm, this makes me think.

many engines have a -nomtex, if you think its multitexture, try that.
Normally, multitexture is only active for as long as its used. Traditionally the function that switched it on is the one that is meant to switch it off.

And yes, those look like hud images. Are you sure you switched textures ...

Issue with multi-texture and freetype?

I believe I am having an issue with freetype and multi-texturing. If you look at the bottom left above the sbar in the image I provide you will see some garbage. It's correctly loading the font but the textures seem to smash together.
Can anyone explain this? I'm new to OpenGL and I'm trying to add ...

I just downloaded the EGL to check it out, and Microsoft Security Essentials threw this at me..

That's weird.

I download http://egl.quakedev.com/files/egl-v0.3.1-stable.exe and it's just fine with Microsoft Security Essentials but when I download the file I'm looking at in your quote MSE freaks ...

One thing that sucks about Visual Studio (all versions) is that to configure your build at all you go into an infinite amount of menus with an infinite amount of options, 99% of which are irrelevant to you. (Wait... 99% of infinity? Nevermind...) It's all GUI-based, so if you want to do something ...

I'll definitely poke around with Code::Blocks. I have zero experience with working out side of Windows. I can't afford an OS X system (except for a mini but that doesn't interest me in one bit) and Linux (Ubuntu) has pissed me off to no end with video drivers and the fact that I've never really sat ...

Well, powdered toast man
Well, Sajt man.

When you move the cursor to a blank line, the cursor shows up indented even if there's no actual whitespace in the file. It's kind of annoying, but it's more "different" than "worse". I'm pretty much used to it by now.
Ah, I see what you mean. I've ...

I actually believe EGL does this (quake 2 engine). Might be worth checking out.
If you ever crash it will ask if you want to create a dump file and upload it. I remember going through the code and saying to myself "Oh that's neat". It was using libcurl to do it by the way.

@Sajt, Slower? What? Who? When? Where? Since when was VS2010 slow? It's nice and snappy/quick for me. The IntelliSense is wonderful now. Have you tried VS2010 outside of the beta? It's drastically improved since.

Every version of Visual Studio compiles more slowly than the last. If I make a ...

Code::Blocks installs in 30 seconds.

I plan on maintaining a Visual Studio project file, but Code::Blocks is a fast, free and easy solution and I can point anyone to that and it is easy.

I agree with you on this. It's a good idea for you to do this. I should probably manage a code blocks ...

Oh you guys! ;)

It's okay, I see how it is. You just can't handle the man power Visual Studio has. No but seriously, I do agree that VS2010 is over bloated but these over bloated features don't get in the way and that's whats important. I guess Code blocks does the job but I mean, Visual studio can ...

I believe there are compile guides around here on the forums somewhere.
Visual Studio 2010, the best IDE out there known to man. (codeblocks sucks, ololol)
