Ok, I did a quick test with the modded progs.dat
Unfortunately no change. When I launch darkplaces for Linux the machine gun modell is missing in the start map. I am not shure what is causing this behaviour.

Re: SuperDuper Quake and Linux

Hm, I tried to compile the modified source code (with lower case references to external files but the standard QCC within the SDQuake package seems only to run under DOS. So I decided to get a qcc for Windows. To me fteqcc seemed a good solution

SuperDuper Quake and Linux

Ok, I have written a small autoit script which alters the file references within the qc-code of SuperDuper quake. I'll compile it and report back if this fixes the missing modell issues completely under Linux.

@Hondobondo:
You can contact me via PM if you like. We could discuss how to make SDQuake ...

Re: weird

Haven't had a complete freeze with 2.6 patch on my windows machine. For me a short gameplay with 2.6 worked without hickups.

While this is a bit OT:
I experienced a pretty strange behaviour with the combination DarkPlaces, Wine, SuperDuper Quake and the free Radeon OpenGL drivers for Linux.

When I ...

@Spirit:
I can not comment on OSS but take my word:
ALSA works fine here on two PCs using the onboard soundchips (ATI/Intel HDA & VIA 7XXX).
I can listen to webradio or MP3 and play quake without hickups.
Not shure about Quake engines and OSS though. Since SuperDuper Quake has some issues

Hi all.

hm, for dedicated server I would always go for Linux and use a distribution here with main focus on servers (e.g. Debian). IMO Linux is perfect for server applications such as running a jboss, apache webserver, iSCSI target and so on. To me distributions with focus on stability (e.g. CentOS ...

Re: SuperDuper Quake is back and better than EVER!

Hi hondobondo,

thanks for your replies to my PM. I think this is interesting for all. Hence I answer in the public thread:

i tried to separate the maps by skill level. if you set skill to 2 or greater, you will run the large open maps. look at combat.qc or client.qc with a text editor. if you ...

Don't use uppercase PAK0.PAK and PAK1.PAK, Linux is case sensitive and you need to use pak0.pak and pak1.pak?
Yes, that is correct. As I stated above:
Kleshik runs fine using standard quake maps plus rouge and hipnotic mission pack under Linux. So does DP in "standard Quake mode".

It must be ...

Re: SuperDuper Quake incompatible with Darkplaces under Linu

1st thanks for posting....

Sounds like on linux darkplaces is unable to find the paks of id software. Since the installation and command to run quake in linux is different, I have no idea how that would be.. I suppose reading a "how to play quake in linux" would help. I suppose you can add another ...

SuperDuper Quake incompatible with Darkplaces under Linux ?

@hondobondo:
Yezz.......very cool ! Thanks for the mod !

I just played a little bit and it's a lot of fun.

This somewhat reminds me of Fraghouse Invasion for UT2k4:

Lots of monsters and destructive weapons...a very nice playing couple *ggg*

Hi Dresk,

although I'm only a newb in QuakeC your approach sound reasonable. I think varying the angle/force/direction in which you "push" the monsters will not do any good here. Is there a chance to spawn a new monster in exactly the same postition where the previous monster was spawned after the ...

Hi Dresk,

thanks for the status update :wink:
If I can help, I'll be available.
I just sent a few comments in regard to weapon balancing /usage to your gmail account yesterday.

In regard to the monster spawing it would be great if the amount of "stuck monsters" could be reduced. Thats the only ...

No, but looks promising. Hopefully I'll find some time to test at weekend.
FEAR was great in single-player but never had the chance to play it in MP though.

Re: Kleshik Updates!

If you're using Tortoise, after right-clicking and updating the folder, there is a Show Log... button. Upon clicking on it you will see a list of updated files. Click on each of them and select Show Changes . It's the first option anyway.

If you're using Kleshik's SVN .bat file, you won't be ...
