There is a tutorial for quake 2 on how to add a z-buffer for the shadows in the old quakesrc stuff. How could you do the same for quake 1

Hypothetically, would you want ID to make a true sequel to Quake One? What kind of things would be carried over, what kind of thing would you want changed? Or do you just want to see a Remake of the old stuff or should they just let sleeping dog lay.

one of my friends who is a fairly good programmer has implemented raytracing into lordhavoc's darkplaces engine but its really really slow he wants me to make some optimizations later today maybe i can get some screens!!!

Adding JPEG texture Support???
is it possible to add JPEG suport into quake??? Because i dont like pcx's because they only support 8bpp and TGA are kool but take up too much space so JPEGs just solve all problems
