I wouldn't call this too easily done in vanilla Quake unless you heap lots of models on top of each other, since you mean you still want the enemy to move around and such right?

Gah, another pointless thread. There's a working MD5 exporter for 3ds Max. I was even all prepared to say that SMD didn't support bone weights if anybody challenged me with using the converter :(

IQM export for 3ds Max?

Blender's interface has an incredibly steep learning curve, and there's really no ideal way to get a model out of 3ds Max and into Blender, nonetheless into the IQM or IQE format at all.

Anybody willing to donate a bit of their time to port it over from Python to whatever 3ds Max uses? :D

My bad.

That requires some builtins, but the majority of the work is done in QC.

Does IQM support bone groups, to better perform blended animations, or at least bone names? I don't see anything about them on the IQM page.

I already went ahead and combined the UV maps I needed on the same mesh, but I suppose it's good for future reference, though I don't think I'll ever need it.

I didn't realize MD3 doesn't support meshes with multiple skins, this thread is now irrelevant.

Fast spherical -> cartesian coordinate?

Trying to get up some code for MD3's and using what Wikipedia said to do to convert spherical coordinates to cartesian coordinates is frustratingly slow and results in having around a 10 second wait to load my test model on my PSP :?

Does anybody have a function that, perhaps, uses a lookup table ...

3ds Max -> MD3 with textures?

Some of the models I'm converting have multiple textures on the same model, so it would be ideal if there was a way to get a model from 3ds Max -> MD3 with textures preserved, unlike the plugin Ceriux posted earlier.. Does anybody know of a way?

Well if you have no Knowledge about the engine, then you won't understand it at all, thus you will continue to question.
Yes, it may help beginners, but the last thing new people do is use the search bar.

Prepare yourself for some irony.
