I always wondered why does Func_messagebrd use such a horrid format? Finding posts in there is utterly fruitless and frustrating.Spirit wrote:Jitspoe, check out the more recent posts in http://www.celephais.net/board/view_thread.php?id=60967 , there is fancy new sunlight in Q1 tools.

Re: Volumetric Stencil Shadows
Yeah, what he said ^^ Forget stencil volumes, they are CPU heavy, and completely outdated visually.
There is a method to blur them however. It requires blitting the FB and sending it to a blur shader, then rendering it with the proper blending over your screen. It's actually quite visually ...

Re: RaQdoll
If I recall, LH added ODE to DP around the same time that we did to CRX. If you notice that article from Wolfire was five years ago too, and pointed out some of the reasons why he originally used ODE. Basically, the C api for Bullet was undeveloped and poorly documented, whereas ODE seemed like the ...

Re: What are you working on?
Still working on the level using the new terrain tech in our CRX engine. It's tricky and difficult to use yet, as we don't have a suitable editor other than editing the terrainmap images by hand. Still, I'm having fun with it :) The tech is getting closer to fruition - still need to add ragdoll ...

Re: What are you working on?
Yeah at the moment, I am just sort of playing around, much more tweaking/reshaping will occur. Trying to get the hang of creating the terrains, it's not editor friendly just yet, though once you get the hang of it, it isn't so hard, a lot of trial and error though.

I am curious, what are the performance issues you are having with IQM? Or is this due to something coded in IOQ3?

Thanks for the critique GB.
I reuploaded the shot of the human, you were right, it looked weird without being able to see the lightsource. I think this one is layed out a little better, and also I finished the red/blue skins, so I showed the red in this one.

Two more, it's been a productive week. Hmmm I might need to make an AA art dump thread at the rate this is going.
