Re: What are you working on?

Hello Nahuel,
You always come up with great findings ! :D
I am sure Nahuel placed a light near the wall, just to show the effect.
And it looks beautiful and shows the possibilities really good.

Re: Particles system

What about tracing their projected course / path, and doing a pointcontent type check for a solid along the entire path? [...] could we not project in a time frame when the particle would be encountering that solid area, and set the ttl to live accordingly?

Thats exactly what you said above that ...

Hello gnounc,
Thank you for your reply.
I remember the time when was working on it... :|
At first I wanted to have *just* a sound when switching weapons (identical sound for all weapons).
I am no good with ...

Re: What are you working on?

Hello,

I was trying to get the vwep (visible player weapon) models to work via qc.
The engine I used is DarkPlaces, but the qc code does not need dpextensions.
I think it will work with any engine, as it doesnt make use of viewmodelforclient or any other DP specific extensions in 3rd person mode.
I ...

Very nice Cobalt.
Sometimes it only needs small tweaks to get great result.
Things like these should also go into the tutorials section of main page.

Re: FTE ragdoll system

Hello toneddu2000,

Very interesting things you are doing !
A Quake ragdoll system is what many people "dream" about.

It reminds me of the SVQC ragdoll systems

Re: What are you working on?

Hello frag.machine,

Just when I almost thought you´ve forgot about the 'start' map, you post the screens :)
I like maps with new and interesting reliefs / portraits which are modeled into walls.
You make good use of these.
Really nice ambience !

Will you make a version as original ID1 start map ...

Re: sea effect in DP

Hi Nahuel,

You could maybe make use of hipnotics up/down moving water feature.
Intersected with a slope (which is the sand).
I do not know if this is possible.
When the water goes upwards then, the surface would become bigger in the slope direction.
When the water goes downwards then, the surface ...

Re: Enemy not attacking?

Hello ScatterBox,

it worries me a little that you deleted all the monsters code, as you say.
Do you also mean the monsters code inside ai.qc and fight.qc ?

Your new monster is hunting the player.
That means that you left this function chain intact:
from FindTarget() until HuntTarget(), which will ...

Re: Detecting shortest distance via QC

Thank you for your reply frag.machine,
But I wanted to do it right. So that the new torch model fits to every wall.
And walls are (at least in my experience) quite often other than 0, 90, 180 or 270 degrees.

Hello Cobalt,
Yes, I want the code to work with every Quake map.
Torches are spawned/called ...

Detecting shortest distance via QC

Hello,

I need your helping hand with this issue I have.

Torches in Quake have no hintches, so they fit on every wall (independent to its angle).
I try to bring torches with a hintch into Quake (see below screenshot).

But that needs a specific angle of the torches, so that the hintch is facing the ...

How do you manage it to pop out all these great maps so fast ?
