Re: What are you working on?

Class I've been working on for LawBreakers has finally been announced! :D

Also, though I didn't work on this directly, the cinematic trailer turned out pretty sweet:

Re: FPS game. Need input.

I think the two key things for me are movement and skilled shots. Having a system such as (but not limited to) strafe jumping where you can outrun/dodge/catch up to other players and things like slow moving rockets that you really have to predict where players are going to be in order to land those ...

Re: Doom 4 trailer?

I was super excited about ROTT. Got the 4 pack for me and some friends when it was on sale. MP was already dead by that point. SP was horribly janky. Didn't even give the other keys away. Played the Doom MP beta. The movement was much more polished, but, overall, the experience was pretty flat. Sadl...

Re: What are you working on?

This is not really Quake, but sort of in the spirit. We've put out a new LawBreakers trailer (profanity warning, if anybody cares): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uX9iY-KJQw Had a bunch of streamers and stuff visit the studio and play. I think this guy did a pretty god job explaining the game here...

Re: Vulkan 1.0 goes official

http://www.gamedev.net/topic/666419-what-are-your-opinions-on-dx12vulkanmantle/ - 6th post down is pretty interesting. tl;dr - game devs make tons of mistakes with loose api's, drivers are massive to patch buggy games, new API makes it harder for game devs to screw stuff up. As for me, since simplic...

Re: How to C in 2016

Meanwhile, I'm too lazy to update my compiler (and don't want to risk breaking compatibility for some players), so I'm still using Visual Studio 2010, and half this stuff doesn't work. :)

Re: What are you working on?

JDolan: So Objectively doesn't work with the Visual Studio compiler? I'm torn on what language to use for future projects. I want to make a decent program for "sketching" clean vector art with a tablet, but I can't decide what I want to start with. I shelled out some cash for Terragen 3, a...

I must say, the gibs and hit reactions look really nice. Getting things to look good at that level of detail is no simple task.

Re: What are you working on?

Starviewer is limited to the Quake2 bounds, and it's in a really large room because I was in a rush to get it done. :) If you want more freedom / a larger universe, you should check out Space Engine. Another not-quake-related thing, but I tried making a quick 2D pixel art animation. Might try my han...
