Chat channels to discuss open-source Quake1 development?

Hi everyone, I am one of the admins of the FreeGameDev community and recently we added a Mattermost chat to our open-source game development services: https://chat.freegamedev.net (also see our new Gitea source repository https://git.freegamedev.net). The nice thing about Mattermost (besides great d...

Re: [FTEQW] CubiQuake

Would be really cool if this would also work with Darkplaces or if FTEQW would get VR support.

There is a Occulus Quest compatible but Darkplaces based quake engine in the works:

Re: [FTEQW] CubiQuake

That's fairly cool :)

How's overall performance and any chance for advanced lighting on that?

Have a look at these for a fitting texture pack:

Re: Q U A KE D R O I D - Android Multi-Touch Quake

Not directly related, but there is now a DaydreamVR and GearVR port of Darkplaces with 3DOF controller support:

Re: [FTEQW][REL] Escape from Space

Yeah too hard, but otherwise quite cool!

Is it all GPL, or what license did you put the QuakeC and art assets under?

Re: Q U A KE D R O I D - Android Multi-Touch Quake

Any updates on this?

With the recent release of OcculusGo & Mirage Solo it would be really nice to have an up to date Quake VR port again that works with the 3DOF controller of both platforms.
It's really a shame that no open-source game engine properly supports mobile VR at this point :(

Re: Q U A KE D R O I D - Android Multi-Touch Quake

Hehe, yes AR-Quake would be awesome... but probably better done with Mozilla's A-Frame. But you are right, it would be nice if this was to become an advanced Quake engine on Android. I personally would be especially interested in DaydreamVR support. There is an old Darkplaces CardboardVR port for wh...

Re: EPIC RELEASES US$12M OF PARAGON CONTENT FOR FREE

Understandable from their point of view, but the license really makes it impossible to use outside of UE4 projects. But I hope this becomes a general trend, as we reached a level of graphics that even stuff from older games can be well reused in newer titles. I just wish they would choose a free sof...

Pretty cool, although the in-game screenshot over at Blendswap for the gothic models is waay to dark :)

Looking forward to the github release of craFTEr!

Re: What are you working on?

Would it be ok to add a FTEQW specific sub-section? I think that engine really needs a place to document all the nice features, but without a proper website or a github we are pretty much stuck with this forum and other scattered sources here and there. Go crazy. The wiki can only get better, whate...
