independent water/lava/slime/tele alpha sliders I'd thought about something like that but it seems too fiddly. Some people will want full control over each, some will want just a single cvar for everything; I think the way I have it is a reasonable compromise. If I can think of another way I'll see ...

just a few suggestions to enhance the multilayer experience in future releases (all 2d / hud related):

fps counter
(equivalent of pq_drawfps 1 in pq399)

speed meter
(equivalent of show_speed 1 pq399)

player ping times in scoreboard
(maybe even packet loss % if there is any way to calculate ...

I was just working on a lil testmap and figured i'd try it in DirectQ 1.3.

to my surprise the lightmaps got totally messed up...

I fixed the OpenQuartz problems; and I'm still shaking my head in disbelief at the apparent cause. It seems to be doing something too clever for it's own good in the Start map, but apparently there is a case where some inline brush models seem to share surfaces. I'm not certain what map editor ...

Hmm yeah..

Today i tried on this crappy old p3 1ghz with 256mb ram and a Nvida Geforce2

All versions (1.0 1.1 1.1patch1 1.1patch2) started in 1600x1200 res wich made the pc reboot as soon as the renderer was started.. which is kinda evil!

But all worked fine on 1.1patch1 and 1.1patch2 in 640x480 ...

Hmm now it just shows the console and won't even go to a black screen. I can hear sounds and i can hear the menu, but all i ever see is the console

It's not quite finished in other words. The only major remaining item is to add in support for sky and water surfs on brush models, but nonetheless, they're rarely enough used, and not even in ID1 so far as I can tell, so here it is.
