I'd settle for not having to juggle the stupid "self" variable like a basketball.

The C++ inheritance model is pretty hard to understand. The C++ preprocessor is pretty hard to understand.
We'll have to agree to disagree. I find straight up C to often be harder to understand, especially when it's faking object orientation with pointer arithmetic and function pointers. :)

WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?! You might as well rewrite Quake in brainfuck, as it is easier to understand than the Tower of Babel that is C++.
There's nothing inherently hard to understand about C++. As with any language, it depends on the programmer who writes the code.

Why would you have two brushes touching sides on the same plane? There are ways and reasons NOT TO. That was a fairly common practice in the old days of mapping and I still do it today for a lot of things. Putting a sign on a wall, adding a detail panel to a long wall or large floor, etc. The BSP c...

If you're using ToeTag on a Mac, you can export the texture and then import it using the "without fullbrights" option. It's only a few clicks per problematic texture.

I didn't say anything about running faster. Only compile faster.
It's probably best to also say that by "faster" you mean "marginally faster". I mean, it only takes a few seconds as it is...

Honestly, I think you're over thinking this. Removing all of that stuff from your mod would pretty much ensure that nobody would play it. Quake is so established at this point that changing the rules radically isn't going to lead to a lot of new players, IMO. You may want Quake to be more realistic,...

Multithreaded VIS for Windows

WVis is a modified version of Bengt Jardrup’s VIS tool. It’s the exact same program as the one you can get here… http://user.tninet.se/~xir870k/ …except that it has multithreading turned on. Basically, you get 1 thread for every core/processor you have on your machine. This will speed up VIS compile...

15-20 dollars a month is 15-20 dollars more than I'm spending now. I understand that but I'm trying to present realistic options. Holding your breath and waiting for another free host isn't likely to be productive. Besides, most of us piss away that much on stupid crap each WEEK. It's not a big dea...
