Re: What are you working on?

supposed to be dwarven / obsidian. but not for quake. IMHO the colours are wrong. When I saw your hammer I thought of this . When I imagine a Dwarven hammer I think of this . The colours you have choosen dark blue/gold (especially quake palette) seem odd, try silver/gold, grey/brown. Also the top f...

Re: What are you working on?

@ceriux, is this designed for Quake? It feels like something found on a modern day building site with the bright yellow/orange hammer casing at the top. Maybe try a silver metal so you have the obvious contrast in colours and make it less health and safety danger colours. Could also try rusty brown ...

Re: What are you working on?

New Tesla Coil model (WIP, unskinned): I suppose it depends on what type of theme you are going with, modern/futuristic Q2 or old world Quake. I thought it was a Q2 weapon when I first saw it. If this is the theme you want then it looks cool but it could be better if it fit with the Quake universe ...

Re: Quake MOD - In The Shadows

Here is the original PCX file ( http://www.simonoc.com/images/design/sp/qbs8_000.pcx ) Here is one at a lower resolution ( http://www.simonoc.com/images/design/sp/qbs8_001.pcx ) Both of these images do not load correctly in PhotoShop, I suspect this is an index palette problem, I have seen it before...

Re: QuakeForge 0.7.2 released.

That sounds like a strong argument in favor of writing an installer/front-end. Please don't wrap this engine in an installer, I just want a exe I can put in my quake directory and play with! Or single exe and one menu file that goes in the same directory. Also the 32bit version works fine, sorry I ...

Re: QuakeForge 0.7.2 released.

I forgot to remove the vid_render set. I removed the set command and switched my resolution down to 1680x1050 and now get full screen for the engine but I get <1fps and it is just a slide show. Typing at the console there is a constant delay, loading any map takes forever. The console complains abo...

Re: QuakeForge 0.7.2 released.

write a good README (but will anybody read it? I guess you will) That is the first thing anyone will look at when downloading this zip file, this engine should cater for new people as well. So I added the following to the command line (this many parameters is plain crazy btw) +set vid_render glsl +...

Re: Quake MOD - In The Shadows

This is what the screenshot files look like in PhotoShop CS5 :- http://www.simonoc.com/images/misc/super8_screenshot_inps.jpg I have seen this before, are you creating special palette indexed PCX files? As you can see from my link above, the screenshots are not much use for me. :? For some reason th...

Re: QuakeForge 0.7.2 released.

I think you should keep all of the QF release threads together, otherwise you are going to swamp this forum with new topics and lose feedback between different threads. Also if you want me to test without doing a big point release, then PM. * Downloaded the 32bit client for windows * Still confusing...

Re: Quake MOD - In The Shadows

Does FitzQuake have a "no animation interpolation" flag? Not as far as I am aware, the looping of the torch model is just an animation group defined in the model file. I wanted to do a screenshot comparison between fitz and super8 engines, but when I take a screenshot in super8 it produce...

Re: What are you working on?

Dr. Shadowborg: If this a power up symbol it should be something that can be recognized from a distance. It should have less small details and more big strokes (simple geometric shapes) and distinct colours for certain areas of the model. Could try a large upright hammer (link to hellsmash name) or ...

Re: Quake MOD - In The Shadows

@qbism, thanks for the demo and engine link. I downloaded the engine and played the demo. The colours do look different to the Fitz engine and everything feels brighter. I turned off the fog and it did not seem to make much difference. The lighting system I used relies on the light map being overbri...

Re: Quake MOD - In The Shadows

@taniwha, I think I have got a bit further with the QF install (It does feel like I am just guessing what to do) For some reason the engine always starts with a tiny window and I cannot grab any of the window edges to resize it. There is no menu and for some reason all the vid commands are read only...
