For Sure,

All I can figure this project needs is a handful of good maps, player model, weapon model, weapon effect, gibs, sounds and textures that are all legal to use (CheapAlert is the man when it comes to finding out what you are in the clear to use for a free project). Once again, I want to play this now...

Yeah I agree UT2k3's instagib is great, the maps are almost perfect and the smooth, almost slippery gameplay of UT which normally pisses me off works great for it. Multiple player positions might actually be useful, IDK if double jumping, leap dodging, and sliding would count, but those might be nic...

How about a hunters type quick DM mod? It would be death match with only a few realistic weapons and everyone would have very little health, the levels would be in dark, atmospheric settings, with lots of shadows and hiding places because it would be essential to get the jump on your opponents becau...

Yea your right, my idea is to ambitious for a speed mod. But the other engine idea is smart, what if an event was held with several groups of speed modders all using some modified free quake engine and a lot of content which was also free and had already been found--DP allows for a ton of content be...

I love quake...

That is really true, especially in this community, but you could still get the whole quake feel into a game and then if you've got something really good more people passing by will be able to play it without purchasing an old and hard to find game, even though it might be the purest game ever :)

Just a thought

Would it maybe be cool if the speed mods were fully independent from quake content-wise sense there will be new models and stuff anyway, that way more people could play them and the event would have a wider coverage. They could still be quake related, basically everything can be under a free license...
