I'm going to come out of left field here and say that the community that has persisted around this forum is not the same kind of community that persists over at, for instance, quakeworld.nu. There's always been some gap between the people who Play to Play, and those who are more involved in modding,...

I'm all for it! Some other unnamed persons have ventured hosting it this year, and I think tastyspleen.net would be more than happy to provide hosting again. There's no reason not to do one this year, as there's all sorts of stuff going on.

Darkplaces is one of the main source-ports I was referring to. LH hasn't changed any of the behaviour of the AI, or the way the levels are built. Thus, it's still 100% compatible with the older levels. Instead, it pretties up the game to make it even more atmospheric. It fixed bugs and made some of ...

Re: Game Engine = non-linear media player; too hard

A game engine is like a movie player except that it gets judged by the ability to be presentation to interactive storyline, hopefully with a lot of environment. I think you have it backwards - a game engine presents an environment that may have varying levels of interaction. A linear development (m...

Yes, that's on the agenda for this week. It'll be limited to some image replacements, mind you, since we've really run out of time for anything more elaborate this year. That, and all of the supposed web designers have gone awol, so you're stuck with me.

I'd give the booth process the My Grandma Could Do It seal - it's straightfoward php-based fill-in-the-blanks stuff, with enough flexibility to give you full html control over the booth. So come on in and get ready :D

OFFICIAL PROGRESS UPDATE

The site is live and running at qexpo.tastyspleen.net - news posts and old booths have been cleared, logins work, making new booths work, etc. There are still a lot of tiny niggles to sort out, but I'd say that the site is at 95% operation. Regarding Echon - even if he is now available and willing t...

I suggested to scar3crow the making of a page on the wiki that has basic information, but is mostly there to assist people in proclaiming theirs plans and wants as far as booths, events, contests, interviews, etc go.

I'd be honored deeply to be able to help out with qexpo this year, and I'm certain of my ability to partition time this summer in order to do so. I'm sure most of you don't know me, but if scar3crow is a valid reference (and I would assume he would be, being of supreme long-hairishness), I wouldn't ...
