So, what should I work on?
I think you *want* to do prydon gate, on account of you listing it first, as well as giving an episode name. You've clearly put a lot of thought into it, which suggests that it's your favorite...
Can't help but think that without using more extensions, it'll be stuck improvementwise. I know you still want it to run on the DC, but can't it be made to only use extensions when available and otherwise disable whatever it is?
/me considers the possability of updating dcquake...

Oh there's a new DC quake engine in the works alright, having all kinds of coolness like FRIK_FILE support and whatnot, like, finally a modder engine for the DC. Nxquake seems to be the name. Someone on the Quake DC Port forum on dcemu or something, said that he looks at Nxquake as the DC port of DarkPlaces.Spike wrote:I think you *want* to do prydon gate, on account of you listing it first, as well as giving an episode name. Still, don't let that stop you from making a DC Quake engine, if that's what you were thinking. You might even want to help those fellows out rather, as they seem to have covered some ground already. Not entirely sure how much though, RenegadeC might be a better source of that information.
But yes, I and many others have already tried to convert Frik to the ways of new extensions, all in vain as he keeps saying that compatiblity will remain. He has already however started requiring FRIK_FILE support for multiplayer though, for example.
I must however also say that, not only is it possible to enhance a mod further without the use of new extensions, but you might underestimate Frik's powah!
*Dances away into the sunset*
I was once a Quake modder
Not particularly no. Prydon is what I have been working on for over a month now, but Ren's mod kinda makes me want to switch to something different, something new. But the new Prydon episode is something new. Kinda. I'm really quite neutral on what I should do, which is why I made the pollI think you *want* to do prydon gate, on account of you listing it first, as well as giving an episode name. Incorrect! NxQuake at the moment features:"Oh there's a new DC quake engine in the works alright, having all kinds of coolness like FRIK_FILE support and whatnot, like, finally a modder engine for the DC. Nxquake seems to be the name. Someone on the Quake DC Port forum on dcemu or something, said that he looks at Nxquake as the DC port of DarkPlaces."
A) .Ogg music support that's tied into Quake's CD-ROM code
B) Model Interpolation (!)
C) 16-Bit angle updates (Smooth cameras)
D) VMU Saving
E) Little misc features like letterbox mode (for cutscenes)
FRIK_FILE is not currently implemented.
