What are you working on?
Re: What are you working on?
Good start, ceriux!
First attempts are really the best way to get used to the modelling settings.
While playing Chasm_theRift I became involved in the Dino.
There is less chance to extrakt them from the game, so I tried my own skills.
I'm also a bit intrigued with low poly models.
It's a great way to sculpt models from simple forms.
Mostly I take a front or side face of the model for skinn texture.
This one I ripped in such a way I had each part flatten out.
That way the skinfile becomes very clear and also brighter of colour.

Absolutely, it's your model, you can make it look like as you wish. Actually breaking the default "battered warrior" look is a good thing.ceriux wrote:he's just supposed to be a regular guy with a motorcycle helmet on lol. it might sound bad , but i'm going for an overly generic character. it's for mp plus i dont like in mp games where you can see the players face and they're all the same guy. hiding his face kind of breaks that up to me.
I know FrikaC made a cgi-bin version of the quakec interpreter once and wrote part of his website in QuakeC (LordHavoc)
Re: What are you working on?
Thanks for the feedback guys . i really appreciate it. Im about 50% done with his animations. After i get his first set of weapon animations finished ill start adding him into the game. Ill post screen shots or a video when the time comes.

This seems a good low poly artist, such a pity he made so few videos

I really hope you the best for your project, Irritant. Great work! Did you do all by yourself? Really congrats!

I did not build this alone, we have a small team of developers that work with me on the codework. However, I did all of the modeling/mapping/skinning (aside from a few random map meshes that I bought in order to save time). Map textures are largely a mishmash of stuff I made, PhillipK, Evillair, and a few other sources. One day, in old age I suppose, I may redo all textures myself, but most likely I'll never find the time for that .

Would it be ok to add a FTEQW specific sub-section? I think that engine really needs a place to document all the nice features, but without a proper website or a github we are pretty much stuck with this forum and other scattered sources here and there.

..I also forgot to say that, with my very little experience with FTE, I volunteer myself as co-author for the FTE section in the wiki, if someone is interested..

The model is ok (a little extra detail wouldn't hurt, though), but imo bullets ejecting in front of camera are a little disturbing, I'd prefer that they'd eject on the side of camera
