Minimalistic Cube-ish Weapons

Post by Error »

I've been trying to come up with weapons made out of cubes... I can't seem to come up with anything. The original test gun model I made looks like so:

After scrambling my brains, I came up with this:

...though I'm not entirely happy with that either.

I was wondering if anyone here would be willing to share some thoughts, maybe take a stab at making a model for this project... The idea is that everything is made from cubes or rectangular objects.

hmmm... either just a big long box for the weap that relies on the texture, or warp the cubes a bit to get closer to shape?

boxcannon? Image

i think it would be cool , maybe make the box not fly far but roll far and do good damage. maybe add some stick handles on the side for your guy lol

ok, all weapons and everything are cube based. Not warping. I don't want to have anything really looking like triangles or any other shapes. Just cubes. I'm not too worried about view-weapons currently.

wouldn't it look cubier and better flat faceted rather than smooth shaded? split cube edges for that cubey sharpness

Hmm, I'll give it a go.

How about a chaingun?

Using only cubes and rectangles, and rotating 90 or 45 degrees only. Hows this?

Thanks :D and of course, but its not UV mapped or textured. I just did a quick smart projection of the UV in blender and a gray texture so it would export as a .mdl.
If you want the .blend file or a .3ds or .obj your welcome to that as well in case you want to UV and texture it yourself.

Chaingun.mdl
