I tried plugging what you posted into worldcraft 1.6a and compiled it. Outside of being missing a floor and ceiling, I didn't see all that much wrong with it. (the above listed tools compiled it, though not without errors; probably for the same reasons listed)

i just realized that i was using a shell script in the example sorry, the tools I am using are the original iD software released qbsp.exe, light.exe, and vis.exe running in WINE.

your recommendations regarding tools are much appreciated Thank you very much.

AddBrushPlane: numbrushfaces == MAX_FACES
i think this means you have brushes with too many faces. old qbsp versions had a lower limit iirc.
using one of the recommended tools (most people seem to use aguirRe's tools - Dr.Shadowborg's link) should get rid of it.

Other than the tips people have given here, you could always check out the Mapping help thread on func_msgboard, the most active Quake mapping community alive (almost the only one in fact).

i did end up figuring out the problem and finishing the map (thanks guys!) I am using hmap2 now as I know LordHavoc's other software is supreme.

That's like, the weirdest thing yet. I haven't checked, but are you saying you embedded the bsp's in the images?

I learned this technique from looking at a lot of image boards. 7chan.org to be precise.

You can do this with any compression that is binary. So you could use .zip instead of .rar as well. What you do is take the .bsp file, make it into a .rar archive, go in game and take a screenshot and concatenate the two; I did

in the Windows XP command interpreter this is equivalent to

 C:\> copy /b quake00.png + mapfile.rar mapfileimage.png
or in other words a binary concatenation.


...The point is, I most certainly did not just rename the .rar's to .png's ;)
