Thread quake map editor
Seems someone took up development again
converted the project to use msvc 10 instead of the old 2008 and fixed a few mistakes.
http://code.google.com/p/realm/downloads/detail?name=Thread3d.7z&can=2&q=
Alpha version so it might be buggy but do test it.
supports quake quake2 quake3

err:service:service_send_command service protocol error - failed to read pipe r = 0 count = 0!
Fails to start under wine, and I don't feel like booting into Windows for mapping. Radiant even runs natively under Linux, so running under wine is the minimum any free map editor has to do in order for me to test it.
Also, wow, a thread in the mapping forum! o_O

Uses mfc might be that which causes wine to have hickups :S
The dev is actually looking after folks to take over develoment so if someones up for it it could be ported to wxwidgets and thereby be made multiplatform.
Heh scary aye
im usually not to be found in this part of the forums but i made some work on the old bsp editor earlier porting it to codeblocks + mingw64, so im not a complete stranger here
