Realtime light editor?

Postby Downsider » Fri Jun 11, 2010 12:36 am

I figure it's more than possible.

Write a DarkPlaces mod to place realtime lights, then just export their positions and various values to a text file, parse it, and chuck it into RAD, and you have your baked lightmaps.

Would make development a lot easier..

Darkplaces already has a lights editor built in. It won't edit static lighting though, only realtime lighting.
Still, you can write a converter to translate an rtlights file created inside DP and append it onto a map file.

Perfect. How do you use the light editor in DarkPlaces? I'll write the converter.

People have made their own editors too, using CSQC.
I was once a Quake modder
