Quake TeamFortress Revival

Hi, I'm Shock.

First off, I would like to apologize. I haven't been around the Quake scene much the last few years, and even less, the netquake scene. However, tonight, I was told about this community and I figured I would give you all a heads up on an event that is about to begin.

A revival of TF in Quake is beginning. I started in netquake many years ago, playing on heat.net and mplayer.com but since those two sites went down, I have been in QuakeWorld. Now, noticing that pretty much all TF is down, I wanted to try to bring what interest back to it that I could to netquake, since netquake still has a community, unlike QuakeWorld. Our attempt is to bring anyone who has a general interest in TF, whether you've been playing it since the day it came out, or have barely heard anything about it.

Currently, our community consists about 45 or so players from Netquake DM, NQTF, QWTF, MegaTF, CustomTF, TFC, and TF2. If there is still any interest in TF by anyone in this community, I think it will definitely be worth your while to check this event out. As far as I'm concerned this will be Quake TF's last stand.

Our current status is we are testing servers right now. We've been basically starting from scratch since it has been so many years and are just trying to get the "feel" of TF right. Right now we are only going to have about 2-3 servers available once "Primetime" hits and all work has been done. So if anyone is interested and has access to an idle server, please let me know.

Anyway, enough boring stuff. If you are interested, you can visit us on irc.gamesurge.net #QuakeTF

maybe a big problem with tf, is that there are no updates for it? maybe you guys could start making updates to the game and maybe some graphical updates as well? i think it could deffinantly use it.

well i know that there was some work done with the quake remodeling/retexturing project. But Up2nOgOoD[ROCK] has disappeared. no one has heard from him.

Oh god my bot has become self aware! Hi Shock!

Yeah I think getting people to make some new weapon assets and stuff for it will definitely spark some more interest :)
Will probably have to hunt outside the Q1 community to get some people though! Will require some good hunting skills.

I'd play if you guys were in AU *sob*

yea, one of the guys helping with coding for thios has actually done some work on it for quakeworld but currently, we're keeping it vanilla. In a qwtf mod called XTF(branch off of MegaTF), he made a 10th class but never finished it, but it was equipped with a gun that was a lot like the airfirst and was amazing for high speed rocketjumping(with no damage) and bunnyhopping. You could do some crazy stuff with it. But for the time being, it's gonna stay vanilla.

I doubt retexture/remodel projects are going to make TF popular again. Might as well start a whole new game from scratch. Depending on Quake (including the illegal exploitation of shareware data to run modified games which seems to be popular among Quakeworld) is limiting the audience scope to the extreme, if you want to be realistic about 'revivals'.

i thiink it would help, expecially if they were to start putting out updates with the mod , fixing any bugs, making it play better , ect...

You mean from the original Team Fortress team? They've done updates already
