The only type of GenBot I ever ran was a Q2 one where you setup a local server for them to play on and just let your machine go as they learn more and more. Kind of interesting, but at the time my brother kept turning off my PC in the middle of the night so I lost progress. A bit frustrating he was.
In short, nope, not aware of them or anyone who toyed with them!
