Wondering, are ambient sounds considered entities, and can you look them up via find / nextent?

Nope because they're destroyed on spawn. Plus there are ambient sounds regarding whether the sky nd water which do not rely on entities at all.

@Cobalt: ambient sounds are played every time the engine detects a brush of sky, water, lava or slime in the player's PVS. These sounds are not related to any entity at all.
I know FrikaC made a cgi-bin version of the quakec interpreter once and wrote part of his website in QuakeC :) (LordHavoc)
