Build Darkplaces on Windows?

Postby toneddu2000 » Sun Jun 19, 2011 6:30 pm

I tried many times to compile darkplaces source on Windows but with no success. Compiler (I tried MINGW - awful- and CodeBlocks -easier) always left some library dependencies (SDL most of all) out and I don't know where to find them and how to setup the folders tree. Anyway on Linux I could compiled it even blindfolded! Anyone wrote a guide about it? Or there is somewhere over the net some instructions?
please

MSVC 2008 Express. Ctrl-Shift-B. Just works.

get this http://www.libsdl.org/release/SDL-1.2.14-win32.zip

copy sdl.lib and sdlmain.lib to the vcexpress lib folder and copy the includes to the vcexpress include folder.

the dll you can copy to c:\windows\system32

this is as far as i know the only external item you need for building darkplaces with sdl support.

normal darkplaces build does not need sdl.

Ok. It works. I had to install MSVC 2008 Express. I had 2010 Express. I still don't understand why 2010 users can compile with and old version.

Anyway... thanks a lot guys!
