That is one of the coolest features ever, really. I'm glad you didn't give up on it.
One thing I find funny: you might have a goal that is absolutely the one thing that you've gotta have.
And then you do it.
And 3 days later ... it is now something else ...
Personal examples:
2007: I absolutely had to have video mode switching. Ok. That's done. Now what?
2007: I absolutely had to have the ability to turn on/off dinput. Ok. Next.
2007: I absolutely had to have anti-wallhack.
And then 3 years later, there are still all these things I absolutely have to understand, want to write, need to code. About 10 months ago, I absolutely needed to get Flash Quake to compile (I dunno why, but it seemed so important at the time. Heheh ...)
When is it gonna end! I was able to throw away a couple of pages of do to list from earlier in the summer, the bad news it there were 7 pages and I was hoping to throw away the whole thing by now, but still many of those were knocked off.
I'm hoping to end my brief PSP update detour and get back on to a couple of the latest things I absolutely want to do.
The night is young. How else can I annoy the world before sunsrise?
Inquisitive minds want to know ! And if they don't -- well like that ever has stopped me before ..

Hehehe, exactly the same here.
Sometimes you need to stop for a moment, look in the rear vision mirror and give yourself a big pat on the back for all the good stuff you've actually achieved.

Not an engine coder, but if I get pissed with something I'm likely to go and do something else. If the project fails to draw me back in, there's something wrong with the project. I think.
I also work in bursts, and I think it's important to work when you're fresh. I get a lot more done in a few hours when I'm awake and fresh and motivated, than in several nights of brush-pushing when I'm really running on empty and cursing myself and the project. Make sure the batteries are full, or else let them recharge. Try to make at least the bold strokes only when your batteries are full.
Oh, and try to work in a team. When you see others do something, it's a huge motivation.

Not coding-related, but something that's affecting my work: We've got an unfinished kitchen here at home, and a ton of small problems to be taken care of in the house. This is very time consuming.
On the other hand, I've got a bad feeling growing inside me. I'm thinking about releasing my current code as it is, because it's getting harder and harder for me to feel enough at peace to concentrate myself on coding.
At least some of the new code I've written may be useful for other engines, so it may not be a complete waste if I release it as an alpha. Right now I have no idea of when I'll be able to finish another proper release, and I've already been waiting for over a month now.

Lol! I know what you're going through... I'm 2/3 finished with 500sqft deck and the rainy season is here!
Baah! Hang on to the code... work on it as a reward for finishing something in your kitchen. At least you'll feel good about both!
Good God! You shot my leg off!
