Quake2 and Visual C++ 2008 Express
I know this forum is mainly focused around the Original Quake from 1996. But i was wondering if anyone here had been able to build the Quake 2 engine (aka. id Tech 2) with Visual C++ 2008 Express?

Yup.
Check out my blog (link in the sig), I've a D3D/C++ version of it available there. I also went through various intermediate steps on the way to there, including an OpenGL version. No real difficulty in building it.
