You just need to upgrade your DirectX, that's all. :D

In a normal logical world that would make sense, but this is DirectX we're talking about.

Anyway, what's happening is that there have been many updates to DirectX 9 since the original release; the missing DLL you got in your error was released with a March-of-this-year update. I would expect that the same is the case for 10, and grabbing a recent release will resolve everything.

Re: dedicated server; yup, that's the old GLQuake crash-on-dedicated-server bug. I did say I was replicating GLQuake, didn't I?

It's caused by trying to load a texture when video isn't initialized, and will be removed in a future version. No real reason not to use WQ or any other engine if you want a dedicated server, is there?

was just testing :d also will you be adding in a server list and mouse support (other than holding my mouse wheel in?)

other wise its very nice looking very smooth and so far has played better than DP for me, although DPextension support would be nice to see (also know this wont happen but DP server [list?] support.)

Well I'll try to figure out how to do an update.

My XP SP1 machine has DirectX 9.0c installed on it and I get the same error. Now I would run the DirectX updater, but my XP computer always fails the Windows Genuine Advantage check (nice! My Dell computer runs the OEM-installed XP that it came with ... gj Microsoft!)

Update: what do you know, my computer passed the Genuine Advantage check. It never did before.

Hardly tested it yet, but it loaded very smooth and ran very smooth... This is exciting mh =D
...and all around me was the chaos of battle and the reek of running blood.... and for the first time in my life I knew true happiness.

Nice work, MH.

For anyone who needs to update DirectX drivers to run:

Microsoft DirectX update page

A pure port, I love it. :D Great work and pioneering.

Some random notes from a quick run through:

1. Writes screenshots = yes
2. Brightness slider = no effect (original d3dquake does have this)
3. Video options = crashes it
4. ALT-TAB = crashes it (the original d3dquake has this problem)

I also noticed no z-fighting on e1m1.

Thanks, everyone. So long since I've released anything new that this is a bit weird...

You have more than 27 modes and I'm overflowing an array!

That one will be fixed shortly.

oh, and um

when u play online, when the map changes it crashes, it happened to me twice on ||bigfoot.quake1.net|| and it happened to =peg= also.

not to be a nucence or anything, but we have found the d3d to be VARY VARY smooth compared to gl, in booth look and feel,

oh and the team colors on the scoreboard are greyscale, but we also came to the conclusion that that was 1337 just before we had an axe fight..70 7h3 d347h :D
