Singleplayer mod by me.

Postby Orion » Thu Feb 21, 2008 3:19 pm

Hi, I just made a singleplayer mod I start making since last year...
I'm not inspired to give it a name yet, and I think it's still unfinished, because there are some bugs I figured out that I haven't found a way to fix yet.

It has new features, all Q2 weapons, some Q2 monsters, 4 new monsters and AI enhancements. Source code is included as well.

The file has 6.6 mb. Enjoy. :)

EDIT: I just figured out a bug. Monsters sometimes plays a gasp sound when seeing an enemy.

"*GASP* There he is!"

That's not a bug, that's totally awesome.

lol!

If you found that awesome it's ok!
For me this is a bug, because it could be a problem with air_finished... but it's not an offensive bug, so ignore it hehe.

this mod is difficult

That's why the player sometimes spawn with the machinegun to make it fair. If you were playing on hard/nightmare try normal, or try enslaving one or more strong monsters, the shambler for example.

About the bug, It's now partially fixed. Monsters check for water only when standing, walking, or running, but not when attacking, and some monsters have long attack animations, reducing air_finished and then making a gasp sound, but the sound is still there.

If that bug is the best ever, I'll ignore it and go back to the old code.

I made monsters to drown underwater without testing, I just figured out that when their health is 0 or less, they simply don't die. Just keeps drowning and becomes undamageable. That doesn't happen when they're on lava or slime. Zombies may gib into lava, they can drown too, but they won't die in any way.

I'd rather say certain monsters are impervious to the act of drowning, such as Zombies. I doubt they need air, considering they don't need brains to function :o

It's okay. Not really all THAT hard though. Dunno about the stroggs and Q2 weapons though...

Man, this is hard. And now I realize how my sentry gun is so unbalanced (although it worked fine in my map). It should fire fixed bursts, like 3 or 5 bullets at time, then it would reload or something. :P
I know FrikaC made a cgi-bin version of the quakec interpreter once and wrote part of his website in QuakeC :) (LordHavoc)

Yeah, that's right because a sentry can easily kill a monster, I also reduced its nail damage to 6(was 6 all the time), and that didn't help much.

I'm just doing that, and I'm thinking of adding new monsters that doesn't need too much sounds because if I add one more monster I'll get PF_precache_sound: overflow.
