Invalid edict num: ~160000000

Anyone know what causes this error in Quake? It seems to come and go for no apparent reason between compiles. I've tried fiddling with FrikQcc2.6's switches, to no avail.

maybe problems with precaches

where the error ocur? in-game? loading maps? etc..?

Currently it happens when attempting to savegame in MechInf, but before it was happening on level start as well.
