Was the Quake Rally qc source ever released? I'm dying to see how the physics were made.

sourcecode was never released
plus it was lost due to a faulty hard drive a short while before q2 was released.
quakerally 1.2 (dubbed leftovers) is thus the final (non-decompiled) version.

you can prolly deccompile it if you wanna see what it actually does, I suppose, though I'm not sure how easy it would be to then compile it.

Won't QC decompilers break the understandable code? Or they decompile quite well? Which decompiler should i use?

Is Quake Rally the only vehicle-oriented mod around? Any open-source similar mod? Maybe something not so good, so i can focus on improving it.

I'm quite sure that Chazz wrote all that code for Gold Cup... I could be mistaken though.

There's AirQuake, dunno if it was ever open, but I recall a clone of it with podracers with plasmaguns instead of jetfighters, so I figured they must've used the source from AirQ. And Tanx, but that's DP only, as is my game.

AirQuake has always been open source to the best of my knowledge.

Source code: http://www.quake-1.com/quakec-gallery/aqsource.zip

Worth pointing out: AirQuake contains Jeeps and Tanks, not just aircraft!

Decompilers can generate ugly-ish code that may not be formatted to your liking, and they sometimes do dumb things with constants, but the worst thing is going to be not having comments. But it's certainly usable and modifiable code. I think ProQCC has a good decompiler, but I'm not really in the know on decompilers. The only decompiled code that I've seen and manipulated is the Reaperbot code.

nope, I was wrong... Chazz may have decompiled the code... or gotten in contact with the creator... I've gotten in contact with the creators of Quess and QBall before and obtained the source codes from them. You may try it.

Vehicle oriented mods:

Quake Rally
Checkered Flag: Gold Cup
AirQuake (had ground vehicles)
Urre's Twig physics (he showed me a video of real car physics)
There was a tank mod I saw on cdrom.com's libraries
There have been many mech mods.
There was an incomplete car "physics" tutorial on inside 3d once, I think it was by Chazz (the gold cup guy)
StarWars : Dogfighter had ground vehicles at one point, not sure if it included cars of any sort.

that one is qtank and it's just the player as a tank model that can't jump.

there's an 'aircraft' mod by Steve Bond which he never finished... thanks valve

don't forget Tanx. I also had experimented gyro based vehicles, with but never released it since it was way too buggy. It tried to be like Battlezone

also i think strap-on bomb car could qualify... and bigmap, sort of.

also good night out, but who plays that crap!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! just impossible with the smegtank killing your hardly drivable car in some fragtown ripoff.

there's also this
