Checkig For Precached Models And Sounds

Postby Junrall » Mon Mar 01, 2010 7:36 pm

Is there a way, in QC, to check if something is already precached?
If something is precached twice will Quake know not to precache the item twice or will it overwrite the first precache?
Are there negative effects to precaching something twice... like memory usage?
Good God! You shot my leg off!

duplicate precaches are not a problem.
there is no standard way to see if something is already precached.
just precache it again.
note that precaches (normally) only work at map load time.

Don't worry about duplicate precaches, Quake just ignores it.
I know FrikaC made a cgi-bin version of the quakec interpreter once and wrote part of his website in QuakeC :) (LordHavoc)
