Yeah, it took them about two years to make those, with a full team.

You're one guy, and you've made more in a month. I really, really don't buy it.

No, I mean it takes them months to make 20 models, with a full team, while you take two weeks to make 20 models, as one guy.

hmm idk, to make 1 weapon model... thats got an "ok" skin and a good uv map, it takes me... about 3 to 4 days not including animation. the mesh goes the fastest. the uv takes forever cause i hate uv mapping, the texture takes a while because you want to take the time to put all the detail you can into it. not to mention the changes and mistakes you make durning the process... but all in all id say animation and texturing/uvmapping takes the longest.

Not as one guy, I have a team of modelers! Cocono, kongah, yams,me......

The first update were a dump of models I made a while before conscript for fun

Most of those will be redone to be even more low poly

Also, one more thing downside, Look at some of solitude's models

They look similar to the original halo ones, doesn't mean they are stealing

Those are dangerously close to the original, and they could have, as you say, lowered the poly on the originals. But they didn't :!:

I don't see you raining, I mean shitting on their parade

I don't exactly have anything to say on the matter of you getting a new coder, but I'd like to point out that the banshee model is -still- un-uvmapped.

You show me a Spartan model that looks like that, and I'll do all the QC in the world for you. I learn't the hard way, IP rip-offs tend to get a beating from the quake community. When I first asked for some help here, all I got was "Ah great, some halo rip-off made by some kid'.

I didn't get mad over it, because it was exactly what I was expecting. Instead of arguing with them, I just carried on working on it. I must admit that the rate your 'working' at is very weird. 'When in hole, stop digging' comes to mind.

Yea, Even though I kinda knew this would happen, I have a natural thing for argueing in a way...

But your right, shouldn't have picked a fight I couldn't ever end with downsider :?

I said I have a new coder now, read up 7 posts or so.

I started off with alot of models already done by the time the conscript idea rolled around, because they were fun to make and I said hey, why not start a game! Sooo, I gathered a team, made a moddb page, then showed all the currently done models.

Having an assembly line of modelers is nice, I had modeler friends before conscript, from spawn of the dead. One makes the main model, one trims it up and uv maps it, and applys the skin. This can be done by one person, if you spend about a day on it, or can go alot faster with 4 modelers on it.

I release my updates with lots of content in each, after building up. That mega update had lots of rushing in it!

I guess this thread isn't needed anymore no that I have a coder.

You can all believe what you want, but I think its going to take me an arm and both legs to show you guys they aren't stolen.

Just wait and see and look at the new updates untill you convince yourselves ;)

Well, I think the fact that you have no experiance with modeling in the past according to alot of your posts, and it's strange that you haven't modelled anything but Conscript models.

I -highly- recommend recording yourself making a model, it'd make for good update content while also proving a point.

hey guys, just browsing around and saw this. I am one of biodude's good friends and we share a drop box folder just like the rest of the team. Just to let you guys know, we have a bunch of modelers on the team, and that we are not stealing anything. Please lay off him a bit.

extremely sorry for thread bump in advanced,

but @SamUK, is this offer still available? :P

I hate all this PSP Quake stuff. (read: shit)

You should be developing for Darkplaces, aiming for something small (read:achievable) and polished.

Originality!

I would like to point out the flaws in what you're requesting.
You want him to do something achievable and polished on Darkplaces yet also have originality?
Something achievable and fairly easy to polish would be a clone of a pre-existing game. Like tetris, pong, breaker, or something of that sort.

I am not a fan of people requesting/demanding originality from indie's or for that matter hobbyists who do this in their free time to have fun.

/rant

In any case, good luck Biodude with any future/current projects.

You know, a tetris clone in Quake would be actually pretty fun (although yeah not that original, I know it was done already during the so called "centerprint wars").

I kinda understand Swift's position. Since the PSP community discovered the Quake engine (and this forum), we saw some people come here like: "oh hai i have this awesome idea for a new PSP mod <insert a halo/l4d2/moh/hl/ clone description> and i already have some models<insert screenshot of unskinned pistol or the Master Chief model converted to md3> and i need md3 smd hl mdl support and hlbsp with wad tga png jpeg pcx mp3 ogg ragdolls lol but i have no coder 3d artist 2dartist mapper in my team lol and also i wont try to learn to do anything by myself because i am already the idea guy lol also i dont know how to punctuate a phrase lol can you guys make all the job for free to me that would be awesome kthnxbye". I don't need to say that nobody here really likes this.

That said, I understand that the PSP community is the best chance of a Quake engine rebirth, and that's why despite these factors I try to help anyone that comes here - as long I think people requests are reasonable. Do you want to remake Halo in PSP ? Fine, good luck. But don't expect I'll work on this for you (specially for free).
I know FrikaC made a cgi-bin version of the quakec interpreter once and wrote part of his website in QuakeC :) (LordHavoc)
