Who wants to recode the functionality of all TF goal entities from scratch under the GPL maintaining compatibility with all game logic of every TF (and maybe TFC and Q3F) map out there by clean room reverse engineering and make it modular/plugin-able Frikbot style?
I don't! I like making tactile feedback and models!

TF entities are insane. And painful.

Not really, but Q3F will be GPL sooner or later. We're still working on Open Fortress a bit..

Indeed. Craziest hack jobs ever.

Lazy scavenging up Q3 imitations/basing off the TF source don't substitute my efforts on creating a new free game.

I thought that's what OpenArena was?

At any rate, neither Q3F nor OF utilize any original TF code, so it will be GPL. Open Fortress's engine modifications will allow it to load original quake maps (which includes tf too), and adding basic CTF and goal entity support for QTF maps shouldn't be hard.
