is it possible to code hl2 style ropes and such?
is it? because before i saw it in hl2 i saw it in opposing force and i was just wondering if its possible.

Well ... yes. Anything is possible. You would either do it through one of the plug-in physics libraries or code it yourself (torturously) in QuakeC. Anything is possible, it's just a question of your pain tolerance.

if u want something basic i have that sorta thing in 1 of my patch'es.

I coded a semi swinging rope once, it spawned and draped over things and everything... physics suck so I tossed it away
sadly I do not have a high pain tolerance (quake-wise anyways)
