how to make monsters use a hook?

how would i make a monster use a hook at far distances

its gonna be based of thr grunt and the smart grunt totorial :o

so would i have to add a w_FireHook to wepons or somthing? this is gonning to be the first wepon ive ever done f thats the case :oops:

So, like a grappling hook to cross ledges? Or a harpoon-type weapon that shoots out to snag the player and pull him in?

In my ancient old Wazat mod I had a monster that used a harpoon to pull in the player from long distance, and a grappling hook to pull itself up to the ceiling for those friendly attack-from-above sneak attacks. :D So it can be done.

However, getting a monster to cross gaps with a hook takes a little more logic. He has to recognize that there's a gap blocking his way, and that his hook will successfully get him across (as opposed to being blocked by bars etc).
When my computer inevitably explodes and kills me, my cat inherits everything I own. He may be the only one capable of continuing my work.

yes i wish for a harpoon style one to drag you in a burn u with lightning [whahahahahaha] is there any toutorial for this or do i need a spacific file for hook and monster? like in that rune quake thes a hook would i need that, somthing witha w_firehook?

i alredya have nailgrunts :D

Easiest way to mae grunts shoot multiple nails is to have the firing sequence have 3 or 4 calls to the firing function. That's how I did it back when I experemented with machinegun grunts...

I wonder if anyone still has my old Wazat mod kicking around a hard drive somewhere. If so you could grab some code from my grappler monster.

thanks Lardarse it works beautifully

also the model im planaing on using is a player model, but that shouldent be a problem [i got it digging thru old qexpo's fer resources]
