I've read that before. the fun part is that its outdated now with all the mobile platforms and webgl and stuff. needs a new chapter.

Some of it was written a bit off, introducing the Geforce256 (late 1999) right before DX6 (mid 98) which made it appear as if Nvidia were ahead by a year or so.
