BB's mod aspects weren't really what I would think of as a mod, its quality comes from the excellence of the maps themselves.

Skyblazer, the best mod to play q1edge.bsp with. Hover boards, a ball to grab and toss into a goal that is placed in different locations, and bots... Simple and fun. Iirc a bit of the bot behavior was fudged, such as item pickups... I believe they spawned with a random weapon, which became obvious when they would use shaft on a shaftless map (or on one where it is difficult for a non-waypointed bot to reach like q1edge).

There was one REALLY good weapon mod back in 97 that was on the QCA, and got a great score, but is no longer listed... No clue of the name, but it had new models and skins, which had a great heavy industrial feel and went along great with e4m1. Just very good responsive weapons, and high detail for the time being (but then again, this was a time when I thought the TF sniper rifle and assault cannon models, the original ones, were detailed).

If I'm not mistaken, Minion was the chess game - Minion Arena was the RA clone.

Mmm...

In no particular order (and excluding the "obvious" Frikbot ;)) :

Team Fortress + Coffee's TF bots
Hurried Descent (simple concept, great gameplay. Exactly what I'm after)
Gyro (which, I wish, could be used in more inventive ways by mod-makers)
Bulldog Arena
Fiend Hunter

There are so many good mods out there, though, it's hard to choose just five... ;)

Ren: aye, and it's more interesting to keep track of the 5 people are listing, rather than 10. Also interesting to see which ones people mention that they for some reason didn't include in the list :P

1. Prydon Gate - Instant classic, and I wish there were more content... I just started playing this again last night. FRIK! GET TO WORK!!!
2. AirQuake - TRUE classic.
3. Fiend Hunter (really wish I could find v0.62 [i think]) Xoltan sucks for not still working on it, or keeping a version database online
4. Target Quake - i just love this mod!
5. Tied between Galactix, Ren's survival horror mod (sorry I forgot name), TAoV, and Minion Arena - ALL very good mods and very well done

Try checking here? You'll probably want to get the v0.60 maps, too. =)

Supa: ooh!

Someone should make a Fiend Hunter compilation mod, taking the best parts of all the releases into a single mod, and fixing all the funkyness/buggyness of it. And making it a DP mod, too. Yay.

EDIT: that is, essentially a new mod which is *like* Fiend Hunter, using the Fiend Hunter content.

Maybe it's as good as 5 other mods put together? Basicly, equally good to Arcade.
