Kicked from a QW server with Darkplaces.
Hi.
I've tried hundreds of times to connect to a QW server using Darkplaces, but when I connect, I'm kicked and displays the following message: "you were kicked from the game (old or unknown client)".
And trying hundreds of times, I was banned because of this!
In the first times that I've tried to connect, my player model has some skins on it, it have displayed the non standard player/eyes model message... I've replaced the player model with the original one. I was kicked because of Dakplaces, not of the modified player.mdl!
So, if I enter to a QW server with an unknown client, is this an anti-cheat?? I've tried to connect to a TF server, the game has crashed, but nothing happened.

Every QW server says I'm not using standardized progs, and that happens in DP or FTE. People get warnings sometimes when I connect to a NQ server for not using "Pro"Quake, it is all a symptom of people latching onto proprietary formats.
Regarding the problem with DP, maybe its a signature thing LordHavoc can change, but I have a feeling its because the server is overly strict and redundant in its engine choice.

Yeah, as if Darkplaces doesn't do the same. ezQuake is the best QW engine there is, I can only highly suggest using it instead of DP. It's got so great features for QW and you can make it look how you like (i.e. exactly like glquake...).CheapAlert wrote:it's probably because you're not using ezquake or some other bastardize-quakes-looks client.

how ironic of you to say thatCheapAlert wrote:it's probably because you're not using ezquake or some other bastardize-quakes-looks client.
the fault lies withing DarkPlaces.. even if the server was MVDSV it still is compatible with any QW client from the original 2.30 until present days.
and check your facts before scorning EZQuake..

hmm right now I have the latest beta and the QW support seems broken altogether. It freezes on loading the server browser, and then just sits there at 'No servers found'. I also can't create my own QW server. It gives me the error sv_sendclientmessages: No quakeworld support.

On the QW community seems normal to reject some clients, or only able only one with a safe module. Is normal, and something to stop cheating as much as posible.
A nice QW engine is ezQuake.
