Echon can supply an SVN repository, and even a website for it, if we want one. www.quakedev.com

if you've seen this post you'll notice i've started retexturing the dm levels with Free (NOT FREEWARE OR PUBLIC DOMAIN, I mean Free Software) textures from OpenQuartz and OpenArena starting with DM4
hopefully retexturing all the dm levels will give a good base to start replicating the rest of the textures with.
I prefer not to base a wad on any retexturing project since licenses and risk of deriving from id's original artwork and trademarks is an iffy issue.

What's exactly the goal ? To make something similar to Open Arena ? Or to make an entire new game based in the original Quake concept that was scrapped during the development ? The last one would be something very cool, although there's always the risk of a C&D letter...
I know FrikaC made a cgi-bin version of the quakec interpreter once and wrote part of his website in QuakeC

in the case of the latter, we would check before hand on such... and could probably get their blessing.
i think as long as you deal with individuals and not corporations, all you need to do is convey your passion, integrity and talent. companies dont want others to gain recognition where they could have, but artists dont want to see their designs butchered.

Hey Cheap, I guess would be cool to have a complete list of resources to be replaced and who is working in what, don't you think ?

Yay, here's my first non-skinned tiny contribution. Saves you about a minute of work, and gives me a smidgen of modeling practice. woot.
