Tomes of Mephistopheles alpha is out!

Post by motorsep »

Hi fellow Quake modders and players.

Kot-in-Action Creative artel have released first alpha (following alpha funding business model) of its upcoming FPS aRPG dungeon crawler with randomly generated destructible dungeons. And it's powered by DarkPlaces once again :)

http://tom.kot-in-action.com

Would be nice if someone could post it on QuakeOne and some other Quake/Doom related forums and websites. Please, help us to become next Minecraft / Terraria !

Thank you.

Interesting, watched the video.

Do you want honest feedback on this, motorsep?

I'll do a news item at QuakeOne in the next day or so.

Motorsep, if so inclined could you respond to the gentleman in this thread that in my opinion was verbally thinking out loud with a concern that I do not believe could possibly be true.

Answering that kind of comment is futile. It's better to just keep working on the game instead of dissecting each and every bit of the design decisions to people who aren't paying attention to them in the first place.

The game does look good, though.

Thank you for your support guys. Indeed, I refuse to comment idiotic remarks. I did that with Steel Storm and it took away the best of me. It really just creates more trolling as these guys won't get the message. So I response only to positive feedback :P

Go go Kot-in-Action,go! I'll be first in line to buy it!
I admire you so much guys! I like the "consistence" of corpses and lighting system. Post effects are real good too! IMHO monsters pain animations could be improved a bit, but, considering it's an alpha version, you sure will improve them!
Great job folks!

PS: Any chance to see a ragdoll system in DP?

Thanks.

Ragdolls are possible if LH or div0 will fix some stuff related to skeleton object and make engine to calculate tranformation matrices for ragdolls. It's possible with csqc too, but royal pita.

RAGdolls are cool, but kinda over the rainbow for gameplay. Once u kill the enemy you arent watching the way they die as u attack the next. A complex animation is great if not too repetitious.
I hope u have an entire game down on paper before you jaunt into game dev. Or else snide comments will pull u away from your goal. :)
Personally I love the break a wall 'oh.. whats this?!' aspect of it. Reminds me of Temple of Aphasi on the C64 or even the push walls on Wolfenstien! so much fun!
