Well system libraries are also dependencies in a way
but maybe ms xaudio library has something that could do what you need ?
not sure how far back it reaches OS wise but i believe any system capable of using DX9 should do.
Will be imposibble to port to say linux though
unless you want to have it be a wine port.

They are just for sound output and those two are pretty much platform independent, that's why. You can configure libmikmod to include whatever driver at compile time and use only drv_nos and handle output in your program by yourself like we do in quakespasm and uhexen2.
